Hi, this is a Blog post I'm writing to prep for the Learn You A Game Jam. I've spent a couple of months trying and failing at game jams, but I've learned a ton. I'm hoping to share what I've been learning and how I've been learning, mistakes and all, with the goal of being prepared for the PirateSoftware game jam.

I have a cool concept to test here, and share whether it works or does not- Masters Studies. They were the biggest tool in learning painting and now I'm aiming to repurpose this learning tool for coding, design and project management.

The idea is simple - taking someone who is at the peak of the craft's work and attempting to copy one aspect of it so that you further your understanding of that one aspect, internalising the concepts it uses. While tutorials offer a paint-by-numbers approach with minimum pace for failure adn the need for a dedicated instructor to produce it, a masters study merely requires access to the product itself and basic skills. With a google search offering access to the basics of coding, design and project management as well as examples of master works in each field, this is an incredibly low bar for entry to a process that should let many people reach mastery.

Time to see if it works, starting with myself.
